The Three Graces Oil on panel, signed lower right and dated 1928. 155,5 x 94,5 cm Painting made for the decoration of Marcelle Chaumont's living room, square Pétrarque in Paris. Madeleine CHAPSAL Furniture from the private mansion of her mother Marcelle CHAUMONT (1891-1990), main collaborator of Madeleine VIONNET, square Pétrarque in Paris In 1912, Marcelle Chaumont entered the studios of Madeleine Vionnet who had just opened her house on the first floor of 222, r ue de Rivo li. She was soon asked to design models for her closest collaborator. In 1922, the Vionnet house moved to 50, avenue Montaigne in the vast par ticular hotel of the Counts of Lariboisière, becoming the most important haute couture house of the inter-war period. In 1940, after the closure of the house Vionnet, Marcelle Chaumont opened her own house at 19, avenue George-V where she took as her tailor the very young Pierre Cardin who made his debut at home. Like Madeleine Vionnet, Marcelle Chaumont called upon the great decorators and ar tists of the Art Deco period for her apartment on Square Pétrarque and her fashion house: Jean-Michel Franck, Chanaux, Ruhlmann, Dunand, Lalique, Georges de Feure, Guyot, Clément-Serveau, etc. Bibliography: Madeleine Chapsal "Madeleine Vionnet, ma mère et moi", Michel Lafon edition, 2010.
