[Terrier of the Holey Lordship]. Signed manuscript, second half of the 16th century, 63 pages on calfskin (unencumbered), in-4 (25x20cm), sow skin turned over. The former parish of Les Troux, with the hamlets of Boullay and Montabé, now forms the commune of Boullayles- Troux, which once belonged to the Knights Templar and later to the Hospitallers and the châtellerie de Chevreuse. Between 1574 and 1589, Alexandre Legrand, adviser to the parliament of Paris, returned the village of his fiefdom of Troux to Henry de Lorraine, Duke of Guise and Chevreuse. In this confession, the village is called for the first time Saint-Jehan-des-Troux. Some names mentioned: Anthoine Duprat baron de Thiers, Nicolas Legrand counsellor and ordinary doctor of the King, Jehan Quignet, Jehan Rousseau, Martin Thouin, Mathurin Pelletier, Jehan Larher, Symon Belanger, etc.. Most of the inhabitants are farmers and merchants.
