The William Laurence, Le Havre 1883 Gouache watercolour, signed by Captain Viaud. 38 x 57 cm (Framed under glass) Ship: William D. Laurence, Clipper built in Maitland, in 1874 by William Dawson Laurence. This was the largest sailing ship built in Canada at the time. Sold to France, she was used as a coal barge on the coast of Africa where she capsized and sank during a tow in 1897.
