A large ormolu and white marble HANGER with... - Lot 253 - Brissonneau
A large ormolu and white marble HANGER with three graces, the shaft of fluted column surmounted by a vase in which is inscribed a dial with revolving circles, resting on a base with a frieze of children's games. Louis XVI style, 19th century. H. 65 W. 27 D. 27 cm This clock is based on the group of the Three Graces by Etienne Maurice Falconet (1716-1791), by Lepaute and Vion, and delivered to the Countess du Barry in 1769. Very popular in the 19th century, several versions of this clock were created either in biscuit (sale at Drouot on 18 June 2008, lot 105) or in white marble and gilt bronze (Christie's London on 28 October 1997 lot 17, and Artcuril on 5 December 2017).
