François GALL (1912-1987) - Lot 131
François GALL (1912-1987) Couple in the dressing room at the theater in the evening Watercolor and charcoal, signed lower right. 60 x 49 cm We would like to thank Madame Marie-Lize Gall for confirming the authenticity of this work. She will issue a certificate at the buyer's expense. Parties, balls, ballets and theater. Festive events for young and old, such as village fêtes, 14th of July balls, evenings at the Opéra and Châtelet ballets, or at the theater, inspired François Gall. At his 1985 Gallery Wally Findlay solo show dedicated to "La Femme", his compatriot Michel Gyermatie, artistic director of the Folies Bergères, invited him to work on a new theme: variety shows. The first sketching sessions took place both backstage and in the theater. As for the theater, it was often those of Montparnasse or the Grands Boulevards. Foreign collectors were eager to appear in the balconies, as were Eugénie and the artist's two daughters. A theme treated with gouache charcoal and oil on canvas. Marie-Lize Gall.
