The Gospel has enraptured me with its principles I opposed it first with the practices of the Church, and like you I concluded 'outside the Church no salvation' for you thus conclude with the defeat of the secular Evangelist." He had two priests read the book, one of whom was enthusiastic: "There are sermon topics in there," he told me, slapping his thighs, "all you'd have to do is copy!...
