MAZARIN OFFICE in marquetry, burr walnut, amaranth and light wood fillets, the lively front opening with six convex drawers, a concave drawer and window in the centre, the rectangular top with ironwork decoration and foliage scrolls resting on half-timbered uprights and double bulge; the eight-legged base, joined four to four by a crosspiece, in oak, rosewood and walnut (probably restored at the beginning of the 19th century).

This type of marquetry, combining light and dark woods, brings this piece of furniture closer to certain cabinets of the second half of the
17th century, in particular the marquetry panels decorating the inside of the doors. An example is the cabinet of the Château de Serrant, the Rijksmuseum and the San Francisco Museum attributed to Pierre GOLE (See Th. H. Lusingh Scheurleer, Pierre GOLE, cabinetmaker to Louis XIV, Dijon, 2005). This allows us to put forward the hypothesis that this cabinet was made by a follower of Pierre Gole at the end of the 17th century.
